I FINALLY did it!
I bought the camera I've wanted since before it came out. i really want the 70D now but that's way out of my price range anyway and I'm not a pro.

Today i purchased for pick up:
Canon-EOS 15.1-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera- 50D

You have no idea how excited i am.. seriously, you don't!

Since i was a little kid i always wanted a camera close to the pros' cameras. My Dad frequently took pictures of my brother and i playing in the snow or doing stupid things on the weekends when we visited him. He had the lenses and the tripods and all that crazy stuff, and well, i wanted to be just like Daddy!

Through the years, and the expansion of technology, the cameras have gotten better and better. My want for one of these types of cameras has gotten more and more intense since the SLRs were introduced. Now, i have to have one, so i ordered it and i can't WAIT to get to snappin! Especially now that the fall season is approaching.. The color show M-Nature is going to provide is a great start to my new picture portfolio.

It may be a rocky road in the beginning, being as these cameras are a bit more intricate than my Powershot, but i'm looking for the journey of my progression as well as great pictures.

The City in Black and White with a touch of color.

I think i like black and white photography the best. If you can get passed the cooler/cold weather it's a great time of year. Last year we were lucky as warm temperatures were around through Thanksgiving, and the colorful leaves hung around longer as well. This year we were back to our regularly scheduled programming with a few lucky days of warm weather.

When i was vacationing in West Virginia in the beginning of November, we were particularly lucky in that we had 3 70 degree days in a row with plenty of sunshine. Some trees were kind enough to hold onto their leaves for me to take some neat pictures.

Below are some of my pictures from my trip to West Virginia. I hope you enjoy!

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

Time sometimes creates wounds

While vacationing in West Virginia a couple of weeks ago with my SO and his family we decided to take a hike up the hill behind the house we were staying at. On this hill lies a house that once belonged to his family many, many years ago. The house since has gone in disrepair and appears to be abandoned, but I couldn't help but see the beauty this house once had when it was warm with life from family and friends. Some may look and see ruin, but I see the past. A past that was full of laughter, and tears, and many children running throughout. The smell of pies and hearty foods cooking. The vision of Christmas trees and other seasonal holiday adornments float through my mind's eye as well.
I was fortunate enough, during my stay, to visit his Grandmother and actually stumble upon the pictures of the family in that home. Unfortunately, I was not able to take them with me to share in comparison to the photos I am about to share.
I do not have an expensive camera, in fact mine is about 3-4 years old now. I try to take the best pictures I can with the equipment I have so I hope you enjoy some of my work.

When I returned home I sent the pictures to his Grandmother, she was thankful for all of the pictures I took, but I couldn't help but find in her words a tiny bit of sorrow as she also remembers what the house once was when she lived there with her siblings.

What may be art to some may create some wounds for others, and that is the beauty of it. The ability to see all things and interpret it in your own way.
